The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has recognized Glenn Hanson and Dan Probert from the University of Wollongong for their outstanding academic achievements by awarding them the Academic Excellence Scholarship for 2024. This prestigious $10,000 scholarship is given annually to students pursuing a Master of Maritime Policy or Graduate Certificate in Maritime Studies Programs who exhibit exceptional academic performance.
Glenn and Dan are among the seven students chosen by AMSA this year to receive support through its scholarship program, which aims to enhance skills and knowledge in the maritime industry. AMSA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mick Kinley, emphasized the importance of having skilled professionals in maritime policy to advance Australia’s maritime sector and ensure safety regulations are upheld.
The Director of the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS) at the University of Wollongong, Distinguished Professor Stuart Kaye, expressed gratitude for AMSA’s ongoing support and collaboration. He highlighted the significance of the financial assistance provided by AMSA in enabling students to delve deep into the complexities of maritime law and policy.
