Danish tanker operator Tärntank is partnering with ABB and Wallenius Marine to test the OVERSEA Fleet Support Center on six of its vessels. This collaboration aims to explore opportunities to enhance operational performance by optimizing engine, hull, propeller, and auxiliary systems, as well as implementing solutions to reduce emissions and ecological impact. OVERSEA services combine fleet management expertise with advanced analytics to assist in making better operational decisions and improving vessel performance.

The testing of the decision support service will cover a range of performance aspects, including engine, hull, and propeller efficiency, auxiliary system performance, and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) forecasting and monitoring on Tärntank’s fleet of tankers. The collaboration with ABB draws on their marine technology expertise and the ABB Ability™ Genix Industrial Analytics and AI IoT platform, combined with Wallenius Marine’s extensive experience in ship management and vessel performance.

The goal of the partnership is to provide Tärntank with comprehensive support for operational performance improvement, including expert assistance from the OVERSEA Fleet Support Center throughout the entire improvement cycle. The collaboration between ship crews, office staff, and experts at the Fleet Support Center will focus on translating learnings into actionable steps to further enhance vessel performance. Tankers present a significant opportunity for OVERSEA’s services, considering there are approximately 10,000 tankers globally, representing a substantial portion of the fleet. Owners and operators can benefit from subscribing to support as a service using OVERSEA’s digital solution and collaborating with the center’s experts.
