A group of employees from the Port of Aberdeen recently took on the grueling 24 Peaks Challenge, raising over £26,000 for The Seafarers’ Charity. The challenge involved reaching the summits of 24 peaks in the Lake District, all over 2,400 feet high, within a 48-hour time frame. This required hiking over 30 miles and ascending over 12,000 feet, testing the team’s endurance and determination against the elements and fatigue.
The Port of Aberdeen not only supported the team in their fundraising efforts but also match-funded their donations, resulting in the port being awarded the ‘Top Fundraiser’ prize. CEO Bob Sanguinetti expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishments and the significant contribution made to the charity. The port’s commitment to giving back to the community was further demonstrated by a donation of £100,000 earlier in the year to various charity partners and community projects.
The successful completion of the 24 Peaks Challenge and the generous fundraising efforts of the Port of Aberdeen team exemplify their dedication to supporting charitable causes and making a positive impact on the community. The team’s perseverance in conquering the challenging peaks reflects the port’s values of teamwork, resilience, and giving back to those in need. Through their fundraising initiatives and community donations, the Port of Aberdeen continues to demonstrate their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
