Singapore-based shipbuilder Strategic Marine has delivered the fourth-generation Amarco S1 fast crew boat (FCB) to Brunei’s offshore operator Amarco. The 42-meter vessel is equipped with advanced maritime technology and sustainability features, specifically designed for long-term operations in Brunei’s offshore oil and gas sector. Powered by triple Baudouin engines and ZF3050 gearboxes, the Amarco S1 can reach speeds of up to 28.5 knots. It is also designed for future upgrades, including the integration of a gyro stabilizer and a motion-compensated gangway.
Strategic Marine’s Chief Executive Officer, Chan Eng Yew, expressed delight and honor in being selected for the prestigious project with Amarco Sdn Bhd. The vessel’s design aligns with global sustainability guidelines, featuring a plug-and-play hybrid system that allows certain operating profiles to be performed on battery power. This ensures the vessel can meet future environmental standards, contributing to greener offshore operations. Additionally, the Amarco S1 is equipped with an external firefighting system (FIFI) and an oil dispersant system, enhancing its emergency response capabilities.
In addition to the Amarco S1 delivery, Strategic Marine has been chosen by Malaysia’s Centus Marine to construct new high-speed personnel transfer vessels. These vessels will be based on AIRCAT Vessels’ AIRCAT 35 Crewliner platform. The Amarco S1’s features, including the hybrid system, firefighting capabilities, and maneuverability enhancements, demonstrate Strategic Marine’s commitment to providing innovative and sustainable solutions for the offshore industry. The vessel’s deployment marks a significant milestone in meeting the demands of Brunei’s offshore oil and gas sector.
