APM Terminals will provide financial, operational and technological support to HATECO Group Joint Stock Corporation (HATECO) as part of their strategic cooperation.
The project intends to take advantage of the area’s advantageous natural conditions and geographic location to facilitate the direct purchase and export of products between northern Vietnam and the European and American markets.
The initiative is also expected to immediately create attractive opportunities for key customers and cargo owners in northern Vietnam.
“We are proud of the Hateco Haiphong International Container Terminal (HHIT) project, which is the largest and most modern container port facility in Vietnam. We are also excited to partner with APM Terminals and Maersk, who have been carefully selected as our long-term strategic partners based on their aligned vision for the market and their ability to add commercial and operational value,” said Tran van Ky, Chairman of HATECO -Group.
The project includes the investment and development of two berths with a total length of 900 meters (450 meters each) that can accommodate container ships with a capacity of up to 18,000 TEU.
HATECO plans to complete all construction work and shipping equipment by the end of 2024, with the new terminal expected to open in the first quarter of 2025.
The complex will initially have five Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes and 14 Rubber Tire Gantry Cranes (RTG).
