Late last year, Candela began production on the Candela C-8 Polestar Edition electric hydrofoil boat. With the announcement of the vessel’s first delivery, we now have a closer look at this premium electric speedboat powered by Polestar’s electric vehicle batteries. The powertrain of the Candela C-8, which features hydrofoils to lift the boat out of the water for a smooth ride with minimal drag, is a result of a partnership between Swedish boatmaker Candela and electric automaker Polestar.
The collaboration between Candela and Polestar allows the C-8 to utilize Polestar’s industry-leading EV batteries, enabling the boat to set a new world record for the longest distance traveled by an electric boat in 24 hours. The fast charging capability of the Polestar batteries contributes to this achievement. The Candela C-8 Polestar Edition boasts premium upgrades, including a specially designed interior and upholstery that embodies Polestar’s expression of Scandinavian luxury in the marine industry.
Maximilian Missoni, Head of Design at Polestar, emphasized the innovative technology and performance of Candela’s hydrofoil boats, likening the experience to driving an electric car for the first time. Gustav Hasselskog, CEO & founder of Candela, expressed pride in the partnership with Polestar and the shared goal of promoting sustainability. The C-8 Polestar Edition is hailed as the most desirable leisure boat on the market, showcasing the power of design to influence environmentally conscious choices.
