First Look Sailings in November 2023 for Celebrity Ascent
Two preview cruises aboard Celebrity Cruises new build Celebrity Rise, currently under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, are open for bookings. Both departures are return trips from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.
The first is a 4-night Western Caribbean cruise departing November 22, 2023, offering cruisers a Thanksgiving week. The ship will call at Cozumel. The second preview cruise is a three-night Bahamas cruise departing November 26, 2023 and calling at Nassau, Bahamas.
Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo said: “This ship will be stunningly beautiful – truly the embodiment of a laid-back luxury resort at sea – and I’m thrilled to be able to offer travelers a little taste of all that it has to offer.”
She added, “These taster cruises will provide our guests with a powerful reminder that the experience aboard a celebrity ship goes beyond a traditional cruise line and will definitely leave them wanting more in the year to come!”
The 3,260 guests Celebrity Rise is a twin ship celebrity beyondwhich debuted in 2022. The first Edge-class ship was celebrity edgewhich was introduced in 2018. The third in class celebrity apexentered service in 2021.
Celebrity Rise marked a construction milestone in late January 2023 when it was swam out of the dry dock at the French shipyard.
Her maiden voyage is scheduled for December 3, 2023 from Port Everglades. The 7-night Western Caribbean cruise will call at St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Puerto Plata. The maiden voyage will be followed by alternating cruises to the eastern and western Caribbean.
Western Caribbean itineraries include calls to Nassau, Bahamas, Cozumel, Mexico and George Town in the Cayman Islands. Eastern Caribbean cruises visit San Juan, Puerto Rico; Tortola in the British Virgin Islands; Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Edge-class amenities onboard
Celebrity Rise offers the same amenities and experiences as previous Edge-class ships, including two-story villa cabins, two-story martini hot tubs, and the Magic Carpet, a cantilevered bar located on the ship’s edge, among other innovations.
The ship will feature infinity plunge pools, private cabanas and a two-story Sunset Bar. Dining options include the line’s popular Le Petit Chef Dinner Experience, Eden Restaurant with dramatic three-story floor-to-ceiling windows, and Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud, which serves international cuisine.


Ship designers include award-winning British designer Kelly Hoppen; American designer Nate Berkus; Paris-based design studio Jouin Manku; British architect Tom Wright and star chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud, creator of Le Voyage.
Brothers at the Helm
In January 2023, the cruise line announced that in an industry first, two brothers, both veteran officers with Celebrity Cruises with a combined 50 years of service with the cruise line, would be co-captains Celebrity Rise. Dimitrios Kafetzis and Tasos Kafetzis will each have changing tasks on the 140,600 GT ship for three months.
Her appointments marked the second time Celebrity Cruises made history on the bridge: the line announced the selection of Kate McCue as captain in 2015 celebrity edgemakes her the industry’s first female cruise captain.
