According to broker Braemar, more than 20% of all charter dates reported in 2023 are linked to CMA CGM.
CMA CGM’s most recent target was the 2015-built 9,612-teu Akadimos, which Braemar says was acquired by the Marseille-based liner at a “fixed” price of $47,250. According to data from Alphaliner, 51% of CMA CGM’s 3.4 million TEU fleet is now chartered.
In the container charter markets, Braemar noted in its latest weekly Box report: “Activity levels remain high which has resulted in rising charter rates for certain segments and a 12 month period is becoming the new normal.” Maersk Broker meanwhile reported: ” Prompt tonnage in all segments is very tight and we expect TC rates to continue their strengthening trend and average periods to continue increasing.”
