CMB.TECH and DBR have collaborated to develop the first marine dual fuel hydrogen gensets, marking a significant step in the decarbonization of the maritime industry. DBR, known for its expertise in energy solutions for marine and offshore applications, is working alongside CMB.TECH, which specializes in designing and constructing large marine and industrial applications powered by hydrogen or green ammonia.
DBR will be responsible for the construction and delivery of the dual fuel hydrogen gensets, specifically designed for marine applications. On the other hand, CMB.TECH will provide the hydrogen technology and necessary components for the project. Roy Campe, CTO of CMB.TECH, emphasized the importance of decarbonizing onboard power generation as a crucial step towards achieving zero-emission shipping.
The dual fuel hydrogen genset features the proven MAN V12-24l engine and offers a maximum output of 940kVA / 752 kWe at 60 Hz. Damen Shipyards has placed the first order for three hydrogen gensets to be installed on Windcat’s CSOVs, showcasing the industry’s commitment to reducing emissions. The collaboration between CMB.TECH and DBR is set to expand, with the potential for these dual fuel gensets to be adopted in various maritime applications, further contributing to CO₂ reduction efforts in the industry.
