Despite initial reluctance from the fishing boat crew to abandon their vessel, they were eventually rescued by the MV Singapore Bulker after a distress call was received while the boat was 50 nautical miles away from Krishnapatnam. The Coast Guard Ship C-440 from Chennai then took on board the survivors and brought them back to Chennai, where they were handed over to state fisheries authorities. The search for the missing fisherman continues, with the Coast Guard and merchant vessels involved in the ongoing rescue operation.
