A new maritime passenger terminal, with a total value of 14.8 million euros, has been officially opened in Vela Luka, Croatia. The European Union co-financed the project, providing 10.2 million euros in grants. The new terminal, located on the southern Croatian Adriatic island of Korcula, aims to increase capacity and reduce congestion by moving the port from the center of Vela Luka to the new location. The terminal is equipped with four docks, parking spaces, and facilities for waiting passengers.
The sea, infrastructure, and transport ministry stated that the project was necessary to improve the port’s capacity and alleviate congestion in Vela Luka. The municipality of Vela Luka confirmed that the EU grants covered a significant portion of the project’s total value. The opening of the new terminal is expected to enhance the maritime infrastructure in the area and improve the overall passenger experience in Vela Luka.
