State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir emphasized the significance of digitalization in the maritime industry for enhancing the national economy during the pre-launch event of the Maritime Cloud Platform (MCP) in Jakarta. Indonesia, being the largest archipelagic country with a strategic sea route, views the maritime sector as crucial to its economy, as stated by Thohir. He highlighted the vast potential of the country’s blue economy, stating that the sea serves as more than just a connector but also as the heart of the economy, a source of life, and a symbol of glory.
The MCP, established through the collaboration of state-run survey service holding IDSurvey and cellular operator Telkomsel, aims to optimize Indonesia’s maritime industry’s economic potential and sustainability through digital transformation. This maritime digital ecosystem combines cloud computing, satellite constellation, and artificial intelligence technologies to provide communities within and outside the country with access to efficient and safe maritime services. IDSurvey president director Arisudono emphasized the platform’s role in enhancing shipping safety and security through features like the information system dashboard and real-time satellite communication.
The MCP represents a pivotal step towards digital transformation in the maritime industry, offering efficiency, safety, and sustainability. The platform’s concept aligns with IDSurvey’s commitment to ensuring safety assurance services and providing optimal service through various product advantages. The collaboration between IDSurvey and Telkomsel signifies a move towards a more interconnected and technologically advanced maritime ecosystem that supports the country’s shipping industry.
