DP World’s Chennai Economic Zone has been awarded the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Platinum certification, the second for DP World’s economic zones in India. The certification recognizes excellence in environmentally friendly design, construction, and operations, with Platinum representing the highest international standard. The Free Trade Warehouse Zone (FTWZ) in Chennai features electric vehicle charging stations and a 1 MW solar plant, meeting 40% of its power requirements and designed according to global green building standards.
Ranjit Ray, Senior Vice President of DP World, expressed pride in receiving the IGBC Platinum certification for the second time, highlighting the company’s dedication to sustainable practices and operational excellence. The Chennai Economic Zone serves various industries such as automotive, electronics, IT, healthcare, and petrochemicals, providing a strategic base in the Indian subcontinent with direct connectivity to key regions like the Far East and Australia. The zone’s close proximity to major ports and alignment with DP World’s ‘One Port, One Zone’ approach strengthens India’s competitive position in global trade.
The state-of-the-art facility spans 55,000 square meters with expansion potential to 18,500 square meters, offering a modern and environmentally sustainable solution for businesses in India. With a focus on green practices and efficient operations, DP World’s Chennai Economic Zone aims to set new industry standards while contributing to the success of its clients in various sectors.
