The new facility is the result of an agreement between DP World and Punta Cana Free Trade Zone (PCFTZ), a Grupo Puntacana company.
The new facility will include a new logistics center and infrastructure platforms capable of supporting multimodal air, land and sea freight. Operations are scheduled to start at the end of the second quarter of 2023.
With this decision, the two partners want to strengthen the country’s position as the largest trade and logistics center in the Caribbean.
“This new air freight logistics center with the Punta Cana Free Zone allows us to expand the range of services we can offer our increasingly diverse customer base and helps increase the country’s competitiveness,” commented Morten Johansen, CEO of the office from DP World in the Dominican Republic.
