Global Maritime, a Norwegian marine and offshore consultancy, has acquired Madrid-based engineering specialist Iberian Offshore as part of its expansion into the Spanish offshore wind sector. Iberian Offshore, founded in 2015, specializes in fixed-bottom offshore wind industry, including foundation and monopile design. The acquisition is seen as a gateway for Global Maritime to expand into the Mediterranean region in anticipation of growth in both fixed and floating offshore wind markets.
The CEO of Global Maritime, Jonny Logan, stated that the acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy of offering localized content and expertise supported by their global network and experience. The head of Global Maritime’s Spanish business, José María G., highlighted Spain’s tradition and knowledge of the maritime sector, positioning the country as a leader in offshore renewables. He also emphasized the role of Global Maritime Spain in facilitating this development and serving as a bridge between the various cultures and companies involved in offshore wind projects.
With a global footprint spanning over 20 offices, Global Maritime aims to enhance its standing as a market leader in the offshore renewables sector through the establishment of the new entity in Spain. This move reflects the company’s commitment to providing expertise and support to the emerging Spanish offshore wind market.
