New Disney ship to set sail from Singapore
In cooperation with the Singapore Tourism Board, Disney cruise line has announced its first-ever ship deployment in Southeast Asia, with an upcoming new ship to be exclusively based in Singapore for at least five years, commencing in 2025.
“This is a very exciting year for The Walt Disney Company – 2023 marks our 100th anniversary,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
“As part of this, Disney Cruise Line is undergoing an ambitious expansion with new ships and new destinations around the world. We are incredibly excited to make Singapore the homeport of our seventh ship, which will sail from here year-round from 2025.”
This announcement also comes as Disney Cruise Line prepares to announce its “Silver Jubilee at Sea‘, which debuted 25 years ago, in 1998.
The indication that this will be Disney’s “seventh ship launched”, plus the detail that the ship will weigh 208,000 gross tons and have a capacity of approximately 6,000 guests confirms that the Singapore-based ship will be the former global dreamwhich Disney Cruise Line was purchased in November 2022.
Global Dream was then under construction for Genting Cruise Lines Cruise line went bankrupt, and the unfinished ship was sold. Disney Cruise Line undertook the construction and the details of the ship are executed in the unmistakable Disney style.
The yet-to-be-named ship is being built at MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany, under the direction of Meyer Werft, the same shipbuilders who built it Disney dream, Disney fantasyAnd Disney wish and is also building two more Wish-class ships – Disney sweetheart and another sister ship also scheduled to debut in 2025.
Sailing with Disney in Southeast Asia
While the overall theme, onboard amenities, itineraries and maiden voyage of the upcoming ship have yet to be announced, Singapore is the ideal homeport for a very diverse and attractive range of cruise options that will help further boost the already thriving local tourism sector enrich.
“We look forward to welcoming the magic of Disney Cruise Line to Singapore in 2025,” said Keith Tan, Chief Executive, Singapore Tourism Board (STB). “This is an important milestone for STB and reflects Disney Cruise Line’s strong confidence in Singapore and Southeast Asia. The new Disney cruise ship will be an attraction in itself and boost the tourism sector in Singapore for years to come.”


Departing from Singapore, the new Disney ship could easily cruise routes that include destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and even China, Japan or India, depending on the length of the cruise and whether it’s a round trip trades -paths-travel.
Regardless of home port or itinerary, the new ship is sure to bring all the magic of Disney to delight its guests, including dazzling entertainment, world-class innovative dining and the legendary guest service the cruise line is known for.

Popular characters like Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse, Disney princesses and Marvel superheroes are sure to be on board as well.
As the ship is largely dedicated to the Asian market, it is likely to have even more unique features to appeal to this guest audience and will no doubt offer its service to exceed each guest’s magical dreams for the ultimate offshore vacation.
