India and Bangladesh solidified their cooperation in various new areas and signed multiple agreements during a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The agreements included enhancing ties in the maritime sphere, blue economy, digital domain, green partnership, and railway connectivity. Modi highlighted the futuristic vision for cooperation in areas such as green partnership, digital partnership, blue economy, and space, emphasizing the benefits for the youth of both countries.
Hasina expressed gratitude towards India, describing it as Bangladesh’s major neighbor, trusted friend, and regional partner. She acknowledged the significant contribution of the Indian government and people to Bangladesh’s independence. Hasina’s visit marked the first incoming bilateral state visit by a foreign leader after the new government formation in India post the Lok Sabha elections. During her visit, she paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and received a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The meeting between Modi and Hasina underscored the strong relationship between India and Bangladesh, rooted in historical ties and shared values. The discussions and agreements signed during the visit are expected to further strengthen the partnership between the two countries, particularly in emerging areas of cooperation.
