India and Philippines Coast Guards Strengthen Maritime Cooperation

The Indian Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance maritime cooperation between the two nations. The agreement, signed on August 22, 2023, in New Delhi, highlights the shared commitment of both countries to strengthen their partnership in the maritime domain. The MoU focuses on areas such as Maritime Law Enforcement, Maritime Search & Rescue, and Marine Pollution Response, aiming to improve joint capabilities and coordinate responses for a safer and cleaner maritime environment.

The bilateral meeting between the two Coast Guards marked an important milestone in their professional relationship. During the meeting, they engaged in constructive dialogues, exchanged insights and best practices, and laid the groundwork for joint exercises and training partnerships. This visit also provided the Philippine Coast Guard delegation with the opportunity to witness India’s maritime operations, including the operational capabilities of Indian Coast Guard ships and aircraft.

Overall, the signing of the MoU signifies a significant step towards strengthening friendship and collaboration between the Indian Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard.
