According to sources, the ship, named MV Bulker, was loaded with 958 tons of Tata Steel bars on January 7 from Haldia Port in Kolkata. The staffs are sent from Ashuganj river port to Agartala in India by road through Akhaura land port. C&F thereof is done by C&F Agent Adnan Trade International.
The rods are sourced for an organization called M/S SM Corporation from Agartala, Tripura.
“If the rods can be unloaded from Ashuganj port this afternoon, the rods will start shipping to Agartala on Monday morning,” said Akhtar Hossain, the owner of Adnan Trade International.
Ashuganj Port Deputy Director Rezaul Karim said that the port authority will receive Tk34.50 per ton for loading and unloading the cargo, as well as Tk10 per ton as maintenance fee and Tk315 per day as berthing fee of the ship.
Goods are transported under the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol on Inland Navigation and Trade.
