“K” Line Bulk Carrier Corona Citrus Gets “Seawing”

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) and Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-POWER) decided to launch the “Seawing”, an automated kite system that uses wind power, on Corona Citrus, an 88,000 DWT type Spezial coal transporter for J-POWER.

Completed on September 11, 2019, the 230 x 38 m Corona Citrus is equipped with a ballast water treatment system and a SOx scrubber. The new “Seawing” is expected to reduce the ship’s CO2 emissions by at least 20%.
