Indian Govt Commitment to Dock Worker Safety Standards in Ports

The Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, has stated in the Lok Sabha that the Government is committed to ensuring occupational safety standards at ports. The Port Safety Regulatory Authority, as a Central Government entity, oversees the implementation of these regulations to ensure the well-being of dock workers. However, for ports that are not classified as major ports, the state government takes on the responsibility of enforcing safety standards.

Overall, the Government is taking proactive measures to protect the rights and ensure the safety of workers in the port sector.
