American Cruise Lines recently christened their newest small ship, American Legend, in Key West, Florida. The ceremony took place at Mallory Square, where the ship was docked during one of the company’s popular 8-Day Florida Gulf Coast & Keys cruises. These cruises depart from St. Petersburg, Florida, offering guests the exclusive opportunity to explore the Sunshine State while remaining fully domestic, similar to the Line’s U.S. River cruises.

The christening ceremony included speeches, plaque exchanges, and local musical performances. The ship’s official Godmother, Mayor of Key West, Danise DeeDee Henriquez, joined American Cruise Lines’ President & CEO, Charles B. Robertson, for the traditional bottle smash on the top deck. The event was attended by officials from the City and Port, Key West Police and Fire, local excursion partners, cruise line executives, and American Legend’s captain and crew.

Following its time in Florida, American Legend will begin sailing American Revolution cruises on Chesapeake Bay in March. Throughout the summer, the ship will offer coastal New England itineraries from port cities like Boston and New York. In September and October, the ship will sail exclusive Hudson River cruises before returning to Florida for cruises in November and December. American Legend accommodates 100 guests and features four decks and a unique catamaran bow, along with elegant interior design, private balcony accommodations, and exceptional amenities for a ship of its size.
