In a significant move for the global cruise industry, Cordelia Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) have finalized an agreement for the transfer of Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun to Cordelia’s fleet. These iconic vessels represent a milestone in Cordelia’s efforts to provide accessible, aspirational, and top-tier cruise experiences for Indian travelers. Jurgen Bailom, President and CEO of Cordelia Cruises, expressed excitement about welcoming the new ships and highlighted the brand’s commitment to offering a bigger, bolder, and more immersive cruising experience for Indian guests.
Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun, renowned for their world-class cruising experience, thoughtful design, and guest comfort, will significantly increase Cordelia’s current capacity. With a gross tonnage of approximately 77,000 and the ability to accommodate around 2,000 guests and 900 crew members, these ships will allow Cordelia to explore new regions and provide more diverse and immersive cruise experiences. The ships offer a variety of stateroom categories, including solo staterooms, balconies, and suites, as well as multiple dining venues, entertainment options, wellness facilities, and family-friendly areas.
Since its launch in 2021, Cordelia Empress has welcomed over 600,000 guests on 450+ sailings, offering a unique Indian cruising experience. Cordelia Cruises plans to announce deployment timelines and destinations for the new ships, serving a mix of domestic and international routes. The addition of Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun will enable the cruise line to expand its reach to more ports in India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, offering longer itineraries, increased frequency, and a more enriching guest experience.
