Scenic Group, a luxury tour and cruise operator, has announced plans for its third ultra-luxury yacht, the Scenic Ikon, set to join its Scenic Discover Yacht fleet. Construction is already in progress, managed by the company’s in-house division at MKM Yachts in Croatia. This shift to direct management of shipbuilding arose after financial difficulties at a previous shipyard. Scenic successfully completed its first vessel, the Scenic Eclipse, which launched in 2019 and features amenities like helicopters and a submersible.

The new ship’s construction commenced with steel cutting in February, followed by a keel laying in May. Scenic Ikon is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2027 and will enter service in April 2028. This vessel will be larger than its predecessors, measuring 26,500 gross tons and 672 feet long, accommodating 270 passengers in 135 suites, each with private verandas. The earlier ships can host 228 passengers, with a limit of 200 in Antarctic waters.

Designed for both polar and warm-water destinations, Scenic Ikon will have a Polar Code 6 rating and Ice Class 1A hull. The ship will be equipped with two Airbus helicopters, a Triton AVA submersible, Zodiacs, and Fassmer tenders. Onboard amenities will include 15 dining venues, lounges, entertainment spaces, and a two-level spa covering 1,700 square meters.

The maiden voyage is set to depart from Venice, Italy, cruising through the Mediterranean, Aegean, and Egypt before heading to the Cape Verde Islands, Dakar, and ultimately to Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, and the Chilean Fjords. Scenic Group also operates Emerald Cruises & Tours, which offers river cruises and is developing three new 128-passenger ocean yachts in Vietnam, expected to launch between 2026 and 2028.
