The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is set to launch the second edition of its coastal cyclothon, titled ‘CISF Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon 2026’, on January 28. This 25-day event will cover 6,500 kilometers along India’s eastern and western coastlines, aiming to enhance maritime security. The initiative celebrates the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ under the theme ‘Secure Coast, Prosperous India’.

CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan stated that the cyclothon seeks to engage coastal communities with national objectives and raise awareness about coastal security. The event will be virtually inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai from Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi. Two teams will embark from Lakhpat Fort in Gujarat and Bakkhali in West Bengal, converging in Kochi, Kerala, on February 22.

A total of 130 CISF personnel, including 65 women, will participate, traversing 11 states and Union Territories. Beyond promoting security awareness, the cyclothon aims to foster cultural connections and encourage physical fitness. Notably, 18% of India’s population resides in coastal districts, with a significant portion of trade conducted via maritime routes. The CISF, established in 1969, plays a crucial role in securing various critical infrastructures across the country.
