GANDHIDHAM: In a significant milestone for India’s maritime sector, the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla has become the first major port to handle over 100 million tonnes of cargo in FY 2025-26. This achievement, announced via DPA’s official social media, highlights the port’s operational efficiency and its vital role in boosting national trade.
DPA’s success is attributed to a combination of teamwork, efficiency, and ongoing growth, with this milestone marking a consistent push for operational excellence rather than an isolated event. The port is now recognized as India’s leading major port for cargo throughput, demonstrating sustained growth across various cargo categories, including dry bulk, liquid cargo, and containers.
Industry experts view this achievement as a testament to Gujarat’s prominence in India’s maritime industry, aligning with the Central Government’s focus on port-led initiatives such as Sagarmala.
