The Indian Coast Guard’s ship ‘Sarthak’ has made a significant visit to the strategic port of Chabahar in Iran, highlighting India’s increasing maritime presence in the region. This inaugural docking emphasizes New Delhi’s commitment to enhancing maritime safety and security through collaborative efforts.
During its stay, which extends until December 19, the offshore patrol vessel ‘Sarthak’ will engage in various professional and community activities alongside Iranian maritime agencies. The primary focus will be on training exercises related to maritime search and rescue, law enforcement, and marine pollution response, aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and operational readiness.
This visit to Chabahar aligns with India’s broader strategic objectives, serving as a crucial maritime link to Afghanistan and Central Asia, independent of Pakistani routes. Such engagements are in harmony with India’s SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) and MAHASAGAR initiatives, reinforcing India’s economic influence and commitment to maintaining a secure maritime environment.
This development reflects India’s proactive approach to maritime diplomacy and its dedication to fostering regional cooperation in addressing common challenges.
