The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s largest container port, has appointed Shri Gaurav Dayal as the new Chairperson. An IAS officer from the 2004 Uttar Pradesh cadre, Dayal brings over 20 years of expertise in governance, infrastructure development, and crisis management.

Throughout his career, Dayal has held significant roles, including Secretary (Home & Vigilance) and Divisional Commissioner of Ayodhya. Notably, he transformed Ayodhya into a global religious tourism hub and led the Deepotsav 2024 celebration, which set a Guinness World Record for the largest diya display, showcasing his skills in managing large-scale events and complex security operations.

In addition to his substantial experience in public policy and sustainable development, Dayal possesses strong knowledge in port operations. He holds a degree in Physics and completed training at LBSNAA, Mussoorie.

Under Dayal’s leadership, JNPA aims to enhance its strategic initiatives and solidify its status as a world-class port authority, contributing significantly to India’s maritime growth.
