In a pivotal move to enhance India’s maritime capabilities, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB). This agreement was formalized during the 30th Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam on November 14. The MoU aims to foster long-term collaboration in maritime infrastructure development and shipbuilding, aligning with the national initiative of “Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

The partnership will see GRSE and APMB pooling their expertise to elevate the maritime potential of the region. Key initiatives include the development of a Greenfield shipyard, modernizing existing maritime infrastructure, and exploring joint ventures to construct advanced vessels for both defense and commercial markets. GRSE, recognized as one of India’s premier defense shipyards, brings extensive shipbuilding experience, while APMB offers maritime administration capabilities and strategic access to Andhra Pradesh’s coastline.

Together, these entities aim to bolster indigenous manufacturing, improve coastal infrastructure, and stimulate economic growth through advancements in the maritime sector.
