The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) recently commissioned ICGS Amulya, the third vessel in the Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessel series, during a ceremony in Goa on December 19, 2025. Designed and constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited, this 51-meter patrol boat represents a significant achievement in India’s efforts toward self-reliance in defense manufacturing, boasting over 60% indigenous components. The name “Amulya,” meaning “priceless,” symbolizes the nation’s growing capabilities under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.
ICGS Amulya features advanced design elements that enhance its operational efficiency. Powered by two 3000 KW diesel engines, the vessel can achieve speeds of 27 knots and sustain missions over 1,500 nautical miles. Its state-of-the-art weapons, modern navigation and communication systems, and high-performance maneuvering technology equip it to conduct extensive missions along India’s coastline and beyond.
Tasked with vital roles in national maritime security, ICGS Amulya will engage in maritime surveillance, search and rescue operations, anti-smuggling and anti-poaching efforts, and pollution response. Stationed in Paradip, Odisha, it will operate under the command of the Coast Guard Region (North East), led by Commandant (JG) Anupam Singh and a crew of 39 personnel.
The commissioning ceremony, attended by senior ICG officials and government representatives, underscores India’s commitment to enhancing its maritime capabilities. The addition of ICGS Amulya to the Coast Guard fleet marks a crucial step in securing coastal borders and protecting maritime trade routes, further solidifying India’s strategic presence in the region.
