Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel addressed the first graduation ceremony of Gujarat Maritime University, encouraging youth entering the maritime sector to prioritize national interests and India’s maritime heritage. He emphasized the sector’s vast opportunities, highlighting India’s emerging role as a global talent supplier.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, expectations for India have risen, and young professionals are tasked with advancing the maritime industry. Modi envisioned Gujarat as a hub for port-led development, establishing the university to foster modern skills and a world-class workforce. During the ceremony, degrees were awarded to 250 students, with 13 receiving Gold Medals for academic excellence.
Patel celebrated Gujarat’s rich maritime history, including the ancient Lothal port, and discussed initiatives like PM Gati Shakti and the Blue Economy Mission, which are revitalizing India’s maritime economy. He urged graduates to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Gujarat Maritime University President Pankaj Joshi highlighted the institution’s innovative collaborations and achievements, including over 100 published research papers and recognition as "Maritime Capacity Building Champion in India." The event marked a significant milestone in shaping India’s maritime future.
