The Indian Ambassador to Myanmar recently evaluated the progress of the Kaladan Project at Sittwe Port in Rakhine Province. The port is a crucial aspect of the Indian-supported Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Corridor (KMMTTC) project. Accompanied by officials from the Indian Embassy in Yangon, Consulate General in Sittwe, and India Ports Global Limited (IPGL), the Ambassador engaged with local leaders to discuss mutual development initiatives and community-focused programs.

During the visit, a comprehensive tour of Sittwe Port was conducted, which has managed over 150 ships since its inauguration in May 2023. These vessels have transported a variety of goods such as food, agricultural products, medicine, fuel, vehicles, and construction materials.

In discussions held between Indian and Myanmar representatives, the importance of aligning development projects with local needs to benefit the people of Rakhine was emphasized. Both sides also highlighted the necessity for a swift return to peace and stability in order to fully realize the potential of the Kaladan project.
