Kerala is hosting its inaugural Kerala-EU Blue Economy Conclave on September 18–19, in collaboration with the European Union and the Government of India. This event represents a significant advancement in EU-India partnerships focused on sustainable ocean investments, climate action, and technological innovation.

The conclave will see participation from a high-level European delegation led by EU Ambassador to India and Bhutan, Hervé Delphin, alongside ambassadors and senior officials from 17 EU member states. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the event, which will be chaired by Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian.

Vijayan emphasized Kerala’s historical connection to the oceans, highlighting the potential for innovation and growth. He believes the conclave provides a platform to establish a global alliance for a sustainable blue economy, reinforcing Kerala’s role as a crucial link between India and Europe.

Cherian reiterated the state’s commitment to sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, and marine conservation. He stated that the collaboration aims to create opportunities for coastal communities while safeguarding marine ecosystems for future generations.
