The Odisha government is poised to make history by organizing the inaugural ‘Mahanadi Boita Pratiyogita 2025,’ a significant boat racing event that aims to honor the state’s rich maritime heritage. This two-day competition will unfold near the Gadagadia Ghata in Cuttack, coinciding with the vibrant Baliyatra festival, one of Odisha’s most celebrated cultural events.
Set to commence on November 11, the Mahanadi Boita Pratiyogita will see participation from men’s and women’s teams representing ten states, including Odisha. The initiative seeks to rekindle the region’s historical maritime spirit while fostering sportsmanship, tourism, and cultural unity through both traditional and contemporary boat racing formats.
One of the event’s main attractions will be the Fly Boat Race, which promises to offer a breathtaking visual spectacle for the thousands of spectators expected to line the banks of the Mahanadi River. This grand event not only emphasizes Odisha’s cultural richness but also aims to engage a wider audience in the appreciation of its maritime traditions.
