Major Infrastructure and CSR Projects Launched at NMPA’s Golden Jubilee Function

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal recently inaugurated 16 infrastructure projects and 113 corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, collectively valued at ₹1,500 crore, during the golden jubilee celebration of the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA). These initiatives are seen as a vital part of India’s maritime infrastructure development, aligning with the goals set forth in the Maritime India Vision 2030 and the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.

During the event, Sonowal announced that the NMPA has entered into memoranda of understanding (MoUs) totaling ₹52,000 crore in preparation for the upcoming India Maritime Week 2025. This financial commitment underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing maritime capabilities and infrastructure.

Currently, the port manages over 46 million tonnes of cargo annually, with ambitions to double this capacity by 2047. Notably, the NMPA operates entirely on solar power and has implemented extensive mechanization to improve efficiency. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, highlighting the importance of this milestone in India’s maritime sector.
