Berhampur University (BU) and the Indian Maritime University, a central institution under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways based in Chennai, are set to collaborate on research related to the maritime sector in Odisha. This partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on Monday. The agreement aims to facilitate various academic exchanges, including student and research scholar programs between the two universities.
According to BU Vice-Chancellor Geetanjali Dash, the MoU will enable the exchange of experts in critical areas such as natural sciences, engineering, oceanography, maritime history, and marine law. This collaboration is expected to enhance the academic landscape and foster innovation in the maritime field.
In addition to research initiatives, both institutions are exploring the possibility of offering joint certificate courses.
