Odisha is poised to promote its maritime and green energy initiatives at the India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025 in Mumbai, running from October 27 to 31. The state will introduce the Odisha Inland Vessel Rules, 2025, a key regulatory framework designed to enhance inland water transport and bolster maritime governance.
This announcement follows the 6th meeting of the Odisha Maritime Board (OMB), led by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, which outlined the strategy to establish Odisha as a significant maritime hub. The state’s participation will underscore its advancements in green hydrogen production and its developing expertise in shipbuilding, repair, and recycling.
Additionally, Odisha aims to highlight projects focused on captive jetty development, port-led industrialization, and workforce skilling initiatives. Multiple MoUs are anticipated with prominent national agencies such as the Indian Ports Association and the Inland Waterways Authority of India, aimed at improving maritime infrastructure and tourism.
To complement its presentation, Odisha will release two significant publications: a coffee table book showcasing the state’s ancient maritime legacy and a white paper detailing the Odisha Maritime Perspective Plan (OMPP) for long-term integrated maritime development.
