The Sagarmala Programme is advancing with a total of 272 road and rail connectivity projects, as reported in Parliament. Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, indicated that 74 projects have been completed, 67 are underway, and 131 are still in development. A National Sagarmala Apex Committee oversees policy guidance and coordination for these initiatives, with the Maritime States Development Council fostering collaboration among stakeholders.

In total, 839 projects have been identified under Sagarmala, estimated to cost around ₹5.79 lakh crore. Of these, 119 are being developed through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and the rest through direct government funding in an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) mode. The ministry has updated the Sagarmala Funding Guidelines to ensure better financial oversight and expedite project implementation.

Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to establish a Digital Centre of Excellence (DCoE) aimed at advancing digital transformation in the maritime sector. The government also introduced the SAGAR SETU platform to streamline port operations and improve efficiency, along with a standardized Scale of Rates (SOR) template to ensure uniformity in port tariffs.
