The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is set to enhance its fleet as part of its business expansion strategy. On July 4, 2025, SCI signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to acquire two second-hand Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs).

These vessels boast a cargo capacity of approximately 82,000 cubic meters (CBM) each. This acquisition aims to bolster the company’s tonnage capacity, aligning with its growth objectives in the maritime sector.

The new VLGCs are anticipated to join SCI’s fleet within the current quarter of the fiscal year 2025-26. This move reflects SCI’s commitment to strengthening its operational capabilities and meeting increasing market demands.
