Vedanta Aluminium operates one of India’s most sophisticated logistics networks, moving over 55 million tonnes of cargo in FY2025, which represents nearly 4% of Indian Railways’ total freight for that year. The company’s logistics span Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh, handling alumina, coal, and high-grade aluminium for local and global markets. Vedanta is a key player at major Indian ports, including Paradip, and exports to over 100 destinations worldwide.

Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, emphasizes that logistics are crucial for maintaining the company’s industrial leadership and sustainability objectives. With a vision to increase cargo handling to 80 million tonnes, Vedanta’s logistics align with India’s Gati Shakti Project, focusing on creating an integrated, efficient transport network. The logistics system’s environment-first design significantly reduces emissions, prioritizing rail transport over trucking.
