Survitec has introduced a next-generation high-expansion foam fire suppression system aimed at enhancing foam output while lowering operating pressures and costs for shipyards and shipowners. The innovation stems from a redesigned generator that produces larger foam volumes at reduced feed pressures, addressing the traditional limitations of high-pressure systems that increase pump and water supply demands.
The new design optimizes nozzle alignment and incorporates moving elements that generate rotary momentum, leading to higher expansion rates at lower pressures. This efficiency means fewer units are needed to achieve the same foam volume, significantly decreasing capital and installation expenses. According to Maciej Nieścioruk, Product Manager at Survitec, the system is lighter, more efficient, and easier to maintain, all while ensuring fire safety.
Validated in collaboration with DNV, the system boasts stable expansion ratios and reliable discharge across various configurations. Key advancements include optimized nozzle alignment and a redesigned impeller that enhances air intake and foam distribution, further reducing pressure requirements.
Designed for flexibility, this system serves as a total flooding solution for machinery spaces on gas carriers and tankers, as well as RORO spaces on Pure Car Carriers (PCCs). It is compatible with Survitec’s safety management solutions and is fluorine-free, ensuring compliance with upcoming regulations.
