Four Spanish nationals have been reported missing following a maritime accident in Selat Padar, Komodo National Park, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, on the night of December 26, 2025. The search operations for the missing individuals are currently ongoing.
According to Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, the Head of Public Relations for the NTT Regional Police, the Directorate of Water and Air Police, along with Basarnas, Lanal, and the Port Master of Labuan Bajo, are actively involved in the rescue efforts. The identities of the missing tourists have been confirmed as Martin Carreras Fernando, Martin Garcia Mateo, Martines Ortuno Maria Lia, and Martinez Ortuno Enriquejavier.
The incident occurred around 20:45 WITA when the motorboat Putri Sakinah GT 27 sank unexpectedly. The cause of the sinking remains undetermined, and authorities plan to investigate the captain, crew, and associated tour agents to ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations. Out of the 11 individuals aboard, seven have been rescued, including two Spanish nationals, a tour guide, and four crew members.
Rescue teams are facing challenges due to adverse weather conditions and limited visibility, complicating their search efforts. The team is assessing the feasibility of underwater searches as they continue their operations.
