Collaboration on Developing Maritime Cybersecurity Project

Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV), Igloo Corp., an AI-driven security analytics platform, and Hyundai LNG Shipping have initiated a joint development project (JDP) aimed at enhancing cyber resilience technology in compliance with IACS regulations UR E26 and E27. This collaboration seeks to fortify cybersecurity measures in the maritime sector, addressing the rising threat of cyberattacks due to increased connectivity in shipping and shipbuilding.

Igloo Corp. will utilize its maritime Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution, SPiDER OT for Maritime, to test security policies and monitoring systems for ship navigation. BV will contribute technical expertise, a cybersecurity demonstration framework, and certification aligned with IACS standards, while Hyundai LNG Shipping will conduct evaluations in real operational environments, ensuring effective security monitoring during LNG carrier operations.

This project represents a significant collaboration combining Igloo Corp.’s cybersecurity innovations, BV’s certification proficiency, and Hyundai LNG Shipping’s practical experience. The partners aim to validate incident response procedures and resilience assessments, ultimately broadening the application of cyber resilience technologies across various vessel types and enhancing overall maritime safety.

Igloo Corp. has established itself as a leader in maritime CPS security, achieving UR E27 certification and capabilities for compliance assessments. CEO Lee Deok-chun emphasized the project’s importance for the digital transformation of shipping, aiming to bolster operational stability and strengthen their cybersecurity reputation. BV’s Executive Vice President Matthieu de Tugny noted that this partnership underscores the critical role of cyber resilience in today’s interconnected maritime landscape.
