Goltens Worldwide has partnered with Finland’s WE Tech Solutions through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance marine retrofit projects focused on improving vessel energy efficiency and reducing emissions. Goltens will serve as WE Tech’s preferred global retrofit partner, facilitating the implementation of advanced energy-optimization technologies in the commercial shipping sector.
Olli-Pekka Aalto, WE Tech’s Chief Sales and Sourcing Officer, emphasized that Goltens’ global reach and technical expertise will streamline the process for shipowners to modernize their fleets and decrease fuel consumption and emissions. This collaboration aligns with Goltens’ strategy to support clients in their decarbonization efforts, leveraging WE Tech’s proven technologies amid increasing regulatory demands.
WE Tech, based in Vaasa, specializes in systems that include variable-frequency drives and power-management solutions designed to minimize fuel usage. Goltens will handle the complete retrofit process, encompassing engineering, 3D scanning, installation, and lifecycle support through its extensive service network.
The partnership aims to address retrofit opportunities across various vessel types, including ferries, tankers, and bulk carriers, ultimately enhancing electrical performance while aligning with International Maritime Organization decarbonization goals.
