ABS and Persona AI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance inspection technologies for the deployment of humanoid robots in shipyards. These robots are designed to navigate spaces tailored for human workers, providing the necessary flexibility and mobility to perform tasks in complex and confined environments.

The humanoid robots, which incorporate technology from NASA’s robotic hand, will be equipped to handle various tasks within shipyards. The collaboration will involve joint development projects aimed at gathering data to support classification during ship construction. This initiative is expected to lead to the creation of new ABS standards that define the types and quality of data essential for digital and remote survey techniques.
