Fingrid announced on Friday that the Estlink 2 power cable between Finland and Estonia, which was damaged last December, is expected to resume commercial operations on June 25. This timeline is earlier than previously anticipated, as Fingrid had originally estimated a return date of July 15.

The expedited return is due to progress made in the repair work, which has advanced faster than expected. The damage occurred when a ship carrying Russian oil snagged its anchor on both the power cable and four internet lines while in the Baltic Sea.

Fingrid’s updates reflect ongoing efforts to restore key infrastructure after the incident that disrupted essential services. The swift repairs highlight the company’s commitment to ensuring reliable power connectivity between the two countries.
