Danica Crewing Services has launched a new recruitment office in Istanbul, Turkey, significantly expanding its global crewing network. This initiative aims to enhance the company’s ability to supply skilled Turkish seafarers to shipowners and operators around the world. The Istanbul office will be managed by Hasan Koroglu, a former seafarer with considerable expertise in crewing operations, who will ensure that recruitment processes meet Danica’s stringent standards. All Turkish candidates will undergo the same thorough screening and vetting as candidates from other nationalities within the Danica network.
Turkey is recognized as a leading maritime nation, home to around 38,000 officers and 96,000 ratings. The country’s maritime education and professional standards are highly regarded, making Turkish officers desirable for their competence and reliability. As a full member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Turkey adheres to the STCW Convention and maintains a whitelist status, ensuring that Turkish licenses are accepted by major flag states. This compliance guarantees that Turkish crews meet high international standards, making them deployable across global fleets.
Henrik Jensen, CEO of Danica Crewing, emphasized the importance of the Istanbul office, stating that it is a significant milestone for the company. This new location enables Danica to better serve clients by providing access to a broader and high-quality pool of seafarers. The Istanbul office further strengthens Danica’s global crewing network, which includes operations in Germany, Cyprus, Ukraine, Georgia, India, and the Philippines. Clients can access a total pool of 725,000 seafarers through Danica’s integrated platform, all via a single point of contact.
