Abu Dhabi’s ADNOC has temporarily shut down its Ruwais refinery following a fire caused by a drone strike, marking another disruption in energy infrastructure amid ongoing tensions in the region. The emirate’s government confirmed the incident, stating that there were no injuries, though the specific facility affected was not disclosed.
The Ruwais complex is crucial for ADNOC, with a refining capacity of up to 922,000 barrels per day. It also supports the emirate’s downstream operations, including key chemical, fertilizer, and industrial gas plants.
As a precaution, the refinery has been closed, but sources indicate that other operations at the complex are continuing as normal. ADNOC and relevant authorities have not yet responded to requests for further comment on the situation.
