Drydocks World has successfully completed the conversion and integration of the EMEM Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit, a significant asset for Nigeria’s Okwok field. The FPSO, originally a double-hulled tanker, underwent extensive structural modifications and marine system upgrades at Drydocks World’s Dubai facility, including the installation of 19 topside production and utility modules.
Commissioned by World Carrier Corporation for Oriental Energy Resources, the EMEM FPSO will process up to 70,000 barrels of liquids daily, manage around 15 million standard cubic feet of gas, and store up to one million barrels of crude. Designed for a 15-year operational lifespan without drydocking, it is expected to commence production in early 2026.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) highlighted the FPSO’s capacity to accommodate 100 personnel and its advanced 12-point spread mooring system. The unit features systems for produced water treatment, water injection, gas processing, and gas injection.
Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive of NUPRC, emphasized the FPSO’s importance in Nigeria’s goal to boost oil production, expressing confidence in Oriental Energy’s capabilities. Drydocks World, a subsidiary of DP World, has established itself as a leader in offshore engineering, having completed over 30 FPSO conversions and numerous vessel refurbishments.
