The European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA) has recently welcomed the Bulgarian Shipowners Association (BSA) as its newest full member, effective as of January 1, 2025. With the addition of BSA, ECSA now boasts a total of 22 members, further expanding its reach and influence within the maritime industry. ECSA President, Karin Orsel, expressed pride in welcoming BSA, highlighting the association’s ability to enhance the geographical coverage, expertise, and knowledge base of ECSA, ultimately strengthening the voice of European Shipowners in Brussels.

BSA Chair, Plamen Dimitrov, also shared his enthusiasm about joining ECSA, emphasizing the valuable contribution that BSA can make to the European maritime community. He noted that while BSA counts one of the oldest shipping companies in Europe among its members, the fleet is characterized by its youth, modernity, and efficiency. Dimitrov expressed eagerness to engage in discussions surrounding decarbonization, a key priority for the EU, and to participate in the collaborative efforts of ECSA.

The partnership between ECSA and BSA marks a significant milestone in the ongoing mission to advance the interests of European Shipowners and promote sustainable practices within the maritime sector.
